Become what you believe

Matthew 9:27-29 (Message Bible)
As Jesus left the house, he was followed by two blind men crying out, “Mercy, Son of David! Mercy on us!” When Jesus got home, the blind men went in with him. Jesus said to them, “Do you really believe I can do this?” They said, “Why, yes, Master!”
He touched their eyes and said, “Become what you believe.”

From Jesus’ conversation with the blind men, these truths emerged -it’s your believing that shapes the final outcome of your life. The power of God is in the direction of those who believe the word of God. Evidently, reading or hearing about someone does not mean you believe what you read or heard. Believing is accepting as a present moment reality or fact what you have read or heard. The blind men heard about Jesus that he was the son of David; the name associated with the mercy of God. Jesus wanted to be certain they believed what they heard about Him as the mercy of God personified. The blind men believed that by the mercy of God their sight will be restored. What do you believe?

Believing the word of God triggers the release of the superhuman power of God contained in each word into action on your behalf. In other words, God can only become relevant in your life to the extent which you believe His word. God has called us to believe Him and not to analyze Him and his word. Analyzing the depth of God’s word is good but it’s no substitute for believing what God’s word says. What separates you from a miracle is what you believe.  God’s word says, “my people shall never be put to shame”(see Joel 2:26). If you believe in the certainty of tomorrow’s sunlight, then accept the certainty that you will not be put to shame in your next promotion interview; neither will the evil expectations of your mockers prevail over your business, marriage or ministry.

Your horn of influence and strength has been exalted and the power and authority of your words magnified above that of your enemies. No one questions the certainty of the sun, likewise no force of darkness or human influence can stop you from becoming what you have believed from God’s word. It is not debatable. Why? Jesus affirmed in Matthew 8:13 that your life’s experiences will be according to what you have believed. Believing and acting on the truth from God’s word is the key to reversing any condition with the wisdom and power of God.

Lord, help me to unite every portion of my heart to believe your word.
