Interacting with light III

Tuesday, June 13

Luke 10:39-40
And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

What distinguishes people in life is not where they were born, but their choices and decisions. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet to receive light, while Martha was distracted with service. Does it mean service is wrong? No! Service done without light becomes a frustration. Remember, light reveals and discloses, therefore, the light from God’s word discloses the benefits of service to you. That means, though service is important, getting the light of God’s word is priority. Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 4:11 says “…if anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides…” This strength is received by interacting with light.

Distractions are not necessarily bad things, but they are simply misplaced priorities. To become what God has planned for your life, identifying priority is key. In life, we must learn the law of priority – focusing on the most important things and doing them. The key to effectiveness in service is to first of all interact with light. Remember, in the absence of light, service becomes a frustration.

If you want to be effective with anything that will influence other people, be it your business, ministry, vision, etc., sit under light and interact with it. Simply stated, meditate on the word of God and build up yourself by increasing your capacity to accommodate best you want to do. The amount of light you expose yourself to is the amount of light you will impact the world with. Remember, whatever you expose yourself to constantly, you become. When meditating, meditate on scriptural facts not on promises. A fact is something that cannot be denied, just like you cannot doubt the existence of day and night there are certain facts in the scriptures about you that cannot be denied.

Declare those facts over yourself; say with me, I acknowledge that as Christ is so I am also in this world, the same Spirit that raised Him up from the death is at work in me energizing and quickening my mortal body. Therefore, I win the battle of distractions by making good choices and decisions in life. Interacting with the light of God’s word has become my delight.

Prayer: Spirit of the living God I ask that you help me to prioritize my moments. Help me focus on getting light to enable my service in your vineyard.
Meditation: 1 Peter 4:11
