Extend the flow

Acts 3:6-7 (King James Version)
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

Today, our focus will be centred on the statement made by Peter and John to the paralyzed man. They said, “Such as I have, give I thee”; it was a strong statement of their conviction in the sufficiency of God, dwelling in their spirit. They also recognized that with God, there was no supply problem, but a distribution problem. In other words, God is searching for people who will reach out to other people.

Furthermore, they were aware that the flow of the “rivers” in their spirit man was never meant to cater for their personal needs alone, but was to be extended for the needs of broken humanity that populates our world. Therefore, while others walked through the temple gate, engrossed with their personal needs, Peter and John were generous enough to extend a hand to someone in need. Interestingly, the reality of God dwelling in them was now a mind-set to Peter and John.

Beloved, a correct assessment of what you already have in Christ is the first step to walking in the “such -as -I -have” mind-set. And the grace of God will empower the “such- as -I -have” mind-set to do more than you ever imagined. Grace empowers what is available to produce what is not available in your life and in others.  Hence, you must not disdain what you have in Christ. At this point, the counsel of Paul to Philemon becomes most appropriate. Paul tells us, “the communication of our faith, becomes effectual through the acknowledgement of every good thing that is in you, in Christ Jesus” (see Philemon 1:6).

Look beyond yourself. That is the baseline for operating in the “such- as –I- have” mind-set. There will always be someone who can be greatly blessed when you extend the deposits of glory in you. Isaiah tells us how to release the glory within us; he says, “the glory of the Lord, shall be seen by all flesh because the mouth of the Lord has spoken it” (Isaiah 40:5). Peter and John demonstrated this truth. You will be the next person.

Beloved, Remember, God has no supply problem, but a distribution problem. Be a distributor of Zoe. That is what we have in abundance.

Lord, help me to reach those sitting in the corridors of darkness, with such as I have.
