MOVE AWAY FROM THE CONVENTIONAL
1 Corinthians 1:24 -25
24 But to those who are called, whether Jew or Greek (Gentile), Christ [is] the Power of God and the Wisdom of God. 25 [This is] because the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men, and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men.
Whenever you yield to God’s timing, it will cause you to take actions that seem absolutely foolish to human reasoning. But if you want to be led by the Spirit of God, you must be willing to move away from the conventional.
David was one man who understood the benefits of totally obeying God as shown in 1 Chronicles14:13-17: “13 And the Philistines again made a raid in the valley. 14 And David inquired again of God, and God said to him, do not go up after them; turn away from them and come [around] upon them over opposite the mulberry trees. 15 And when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry or balsam trees, then go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to smite the Philistine host. 16 So David did as God commanded him, and they smote the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer. 17 And the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord brought fear of him upon all nations”.
I’m excited about the conclusion of the story we have just read and I know you are too! The end result came through adhering to a seemingly foolish instruction. It was possible for David to follow through with the seemingly foolish instruction because of his passion for the presence of God. Beloved, how much do you value the presence of God? To benefit from the presence of God, you must be ready to move away from the conventional. Doing the unconventional will always attract huge criticisms. Can you stand being criticized for the truth? Are you willing to say yes to God at the price of losing some close friends? God will be limited in expressing Himself in your life when the fear of man rules your heart.
Remove the fear of men from your heart. Whatever it is that you are depending on men for, God has it all in excess. Whenever there is a need in your life, God will always present you with an opportunity to give to another. Learn to act with speed because every action of obedience that you take will bring liberation to many. God is about to do the unusual in your life that will turn things around for good but listen to hear Him speak.
